Senshyu Yellow onion sets
Senshyu Yellow is a hugely popular breed, originally from Japan, in the overwinter segment. They were introduced in the 50’s and remained a growers favourite.
Senshyu Yellow must be planted in the fall and produces round to flat onions with an average neck thickness and yellow skin. The Senshyu Yellow can survive a winter, but stays a bit longer in the ground than summer counterparts: roughly 300 days. This way the Senshyu Yellow gets more time to develop a vigorous root system.
Overwintering onions are best used fresh. They are not suitable for long-term storage.
